Adam Shapiro moved to Los Angeles in 2002 with a Toyota Corolla, a loaf of fresh mandel bread, and a dream. Since, the graduate of the theatre school at University of Maryland, has since established himself as a talented actor in film, television and on stage.
Early in his career, Shapiro guest starred in many television series, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Closer, and Gilmore Girls. He made it to the big screen with featured roles in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, Happy Gilmore’s The House Bunny, Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me and the Sundance Film Festival award winning films Short Term 12 and I Am Not A Hipster directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. And in the 2014 indie releases Sister, Larry Gaye Renegade Male Flight Attendant, and IFC’s The Den. Most recently, Adam has guest starred on ABC’s Scandal and Mistresses and landed recurring roles on NBC’s 1600 Penn and ABC’s Betrayal.
Adam, a co-founder of Los Angeles’ IAMA Theatre Company was recently nominated for an Ovation Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical for Hey, Morgan! a world premiere comedy by Matthew Fogel, Directed by Matt Shakman at the Black Dahlia Theatre. Stage credits: RENT, You Are Here, The Accidental Blonde, the world premieres of Bachelorette and Assistance (IAMA Theatre Company), and David in Paul Grellong’s west coast premiere of Manuscript (The Elephant). This winter Adam has joined Brandon Scott and Malcolm Barrett in the cast of IAMA’s LA Premiere of The Recommendation.
Adam is the Chairman of the Founder’s Board of IAMA Theatre Company and does IAMA’s graphic/web design and marketing.
